Grammys

download-2    I’ll admit it, I love the awards shows. I like the gowns and film clips for the Golden Globes and Oscars and I love the music at the Grammys. I’m anxiously awaiting next Sunday so I can see some of my favorite performers–Bruno Mars, Pink, Lady Gaga and Little Big Town will be performing. Childish Gambino, Rihanna, Eric Church are also slated to perform, among others. I can’t wait to see Miley Cyrus and Elton John perform together. Just can’t quite wrap my head around that duo!

Like all award shows, there are far more categories than I care about, LOL, but I’m pretty pumped about a few of them. I’m far less excited about album of the year. I’m a fan of Bruno Mars, but was not enthused with his 24K Magic album. I like Lorde, but wasn’t really familiar with any of her new songs. So let’s get the awards I *do* care about:

Best Pop Solo Performance:

Nominees are–Love So Soft, Kelly Clarkson; Praying, Kesha; Million Reasons, Lady Gaga; What About Us, Pink; Shape of You, Ed Sheeran. While I’m not familiar with Clarkson’s song, I love all the rest of them. It’s cruel and unusual punishment to force me to choose between two favorites, Gaga and Pink, so I’ll refrain!

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance:

Something Just like This–The Chainsmokers and Coldplay; Despacito–Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, featuring Justin Bieber; Thunder, Imagine Dragons; Feel it Still, Portugual, the Man; Stay, Zedd and Alessia Cara. I think I have most of these on my iPod, but hope Stay or Despacito win.

I shall be finding something else to occupy myself with during the awards for the Rap categories, LOL. I’m always reminded of that Bruce Willis line in The Last Boy Scout when the villain says something like, “I want to make you scream”. And Willis says, “Play some rap music.” <g> Yep. Pretty much!

Best Country Solo Performance:

Body Like a Back Road, Sam Hunt. (Okay, I’m not a huge country music fan, but that’s a great song!) Losing You, Alison Krauss; Tin Man, Miranda Lambert; I Could Use a Love Song, Maren Morris; Either Way, Chris Stapleton. Three guesses which one I’m rooting for!

Best Country Duo/Group Performance:

It Ain’t My Fault, Brothers Osborne; My Old Man, Zac Brown Band; You Look Good, Lady Antebellum; Better Man, Little Big Town; Drinkin’ Problem, Midland. Hands down, my favorite here is Better Man. And who would have guessed it’s written by Taylor Swift???

Regardless of who wins, I’m going to be enjoying the performances. While I didn’t have a lot of opportunities to go to concerts when I was a kid, I’ve been making up for it recently. Last year I saw Bruno and Katy Perry. And guess who’s gonna see Justin Timberlake in March? That’s right, this girl!
